Lauren Walker, MS, CNS, FDN-P

As a Functional Medicine Nutritionist and Coach, I help you uncover the root causes of your health struggles and guide you through the process of reclaiming your health using diet and lifestyle as our anchor. I am a Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS), a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner® (FDN-P), and hold a Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine from the University of Western States. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wellness and Alternative Medicine from Johnson State College in Vermont. I practiced massage therapy for several years (and am currently licensed in MA and NY) before I turned my focus to nutrition.

I know how frustrating it is to feel unwell. My health journey started when I was born with a severe case of eczema. Doctors said I would never outgrow it, would definitely develop asthma, and the only option was managing symptoms with medication. With the help of a naturopathic doctor taking a holistic approach, my eczema slowly started to reverse. After years of painful, itchy, bleeding skin, my eczema was mostly cleared up by my late teens, remained fully resolved for most of my adult life, and I never developed asthma. I have had personal experience with various other health issues including digestive symptoms, SIBO, debilitating periods, chronic pain and discomfort, fatigue, and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome to name a few. Because I looked healthy on the outside and routine labs came back normal, my health complaints weren’t taken seriously. This has given me great empathy for others who are struggling with their own health concerns.

Dealing with a chronic condition or symptoms can feel scary, like you’re losing control, or have bad genetic luck. The good news is that our genes are largely influenced by our environment and a large part of that environment is our diet and lifestyle, which we can control. Having had personal experience with how compromised health can compromise life, I love guiding people in supporting their health to both prevent and improve chronic disease using a root cause approach.

Testimonials:

I feel better informed about dietary decisions I’m making. Lauren has provided me with excellent data and plans for eating an anti-inflammatory and lower carb diet. She helped me come up with food and meal choices that work around my allergies, likes and dislikes. I feel better when I follow her plans. Like for many people, it can be challenging to change habits but she is encouraging and non-judgmental when I struggle. I’m gradually getting there with her professional support.

My enthusiasm for the results that I have experienced [by working with Lauren] bubbles out of me and other people with whom I have shared my positive health journey have reached out [to Lauren] because they also want information, knowledge, and guidance. Working with Lauren has been transformative for me and my health. I initially reached out for help controlling my eczema. Over the months we worked together, not only has her knowledge, advice, and guidance improved my skin, but my health overall has improved. I have learned so much about nutrition [even though] I had considered myself knowledgeable about a healthy diet. I was astounded to learn through blood work that my calorie-focused diet had left me with some startling nutritional deficits. Working with Lauren over time, I understand what a well balanced, nutritious diet is for the first time. I have experienced with her the ways that food can be medicine. I am very grateful for having the chance to work with Lauren.
